Graphic Storefront, Vehicle Wrap, Sign and Banner FAQHow long does an order take? How will I know what the final design will look like? Do I have to have my own artwork? I hear a lot about DPI. What is DPI? Can I specify a certain color? Do I need a sign permit? What makes Visual Edge Graphics standout? Q: How long does an order take? A: The turnaround time for your signage varies based on your specific needs. The length of the entire process is determined by many factors including quantity, type of material(s), complexity of design, time period to finalize design, and current workload. We will work around your schedule to the best of our ability and make sure to hit any deadlines that you have. Q: How will I know what the final design will look like? (Back to Top) A: You will always receive a proof so that you will have a visual of what the final process will look like. Production scheduling will not begin until receipt of approval and required deposit. The deposit amount will be applied towards materials and assure your place on our work schedule. A maximum of 2 draft sketches will be provided to ensure we have a design that you are pleased with. Please inspect all artwork to make sure that it meets all your specifications including punctuation, grammar, size, and colors. Q: Do I have to have my own artwork? (Back to Top) A: It is absolutely not imperative that you have your own artwork. We will be glad to create a design to meet your needs and deliver your message. If you have artwork, you can get it to Visual Edge on a disc or send the zipped files via email. Acceptable file formats for artwork are Adobe Photoshop (CS2 or lower), PDF, EPS, or TIFF. Not acceptable file formats are Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, or freehand. Q: I hear a lot about DPI. What is DPI? (Back to Top) A: DPI stands for “dots per inch”. DPI is a measure of resolution used for printed text or images, the more dots per inch, the higher the resolution and quality of the graphic. PPI is more common when designing files for digital printers and is essentially the same measure for graphic quality. If the visual communication is going to be viewed up close, it is better to have a higher resolution. Typically speaking, the graphic should be atleast 100 PPI if it will be viewed up to 10 feet away. For anything over 10 feet away, we design at 72 PPI. We would love to design in higher resolution, but it would be overkill in most cased and the files would be incredibly large creating long print times. Q: Can I specify a certain color? (Back to Top) A: Yes, please keep in mind that all printers interpret colors in a different manner and colors may appear different depending on the material that the design is being printed on. That being said, we will try to match the color as best we can. Please assign PMS colors if possible. Almost in all instances the color viewed on a monitor will be different than the printed image. Q: Do I need a sign permit? (Back to Top) A: Most municipalities require permits for exterior signs. Each jurisdiction establishes its own guidelines so please consult your local municipality for the process and timeframes for any permits needed. Q: What makes Visual Edge Graphics standout?
